Support Black Colleges Presents: 2020 Virtual HBCU Homecoming
In September 2020, Support Black Colleges reached out to L2C Studios to produce 5 Days of HBCU Homecoming content to stream across their social platforms. These 5 days would include a Hip Hop Concert ( 2 Chainz, Ari Lennox, Mulatto, Blac Youngsta, & Moneybagg Yo) , Panels, Business Profiles, a digital original show, and a Gospel concert ( Kirk Franklin, Marvin Sapp, Kierra Sheard, Koryn Hawthorne), which translates to almost 10 hours of edited content. This would all need to be completed in little over a month, in order to air during homecoming season.
Covid played a large factor in our team size and resources, especially considering the short turn around window. Our above the line team consisted of Jarred McGriff ( owner of L2C Studios) who filled multiple roles including Executive Producer, Director, and Editor; Raquel Tross as Line Producer, Ashlee Graham and Kristin Meyers as producers, and Ameer Copper and Joseph McShan as Production Managers.
The event received nearly 200K video views on Facebook and YouTube and had over 8k social engagements. Specific metrics for content @SupportBlackColleges include:
Facebook: 196.6k views
YouTube: 110.7k views
Instagram: 28.5k views
The top three takeaways:
The audience preferred Facebook for viewing.
Instagram netted the highest engagement at 9.7% (5%+ industry standard)
The content was significantly popular with non-followers at 90.85%, resulting in 2k+ new YouTube subscribers.
